The maiden edition of the Miss Ability Ghana is set to be held in Accra on Saturday August 12, 2017 with the theme 'Redefining Beauty to Promote Abilities in Disability'.
The event organized by Philus Modelling Agency is an empowerment and educational event that seeks to celebrate the talent and intellectual abilities of young Ghanaian able bodied and physically impaired women.
The aim of this educational event is to reach out to the African diaspora through education, entertainment and exhibition of our dynamic and rich cultural heritage as well as advocate for the eradication of the stigmatization and discrimination against persons with disability.
It is unfortunate that almost all beauty pageants organised in our part of the world focus on able bodied ladies and physically impaired persons are left out with the excuse that is not really feasible to organise one for them.
It is for this reason that the dedicated members of Philus Group (Cornerstone foundation Ghana), have taken it upon themselves to embark on this initiative where persons living with disability will benefit from donations and the opportunity to contest at this event.
This event will help unearth their hidden talents, boost their self confidence, and their drive for success.
There will be timely educative, informative and inspiring performances from contestants who will undergo grooming as part of the event activities. In the end, there will be prizes and awards to deserving contestants.
Contestants will become ambassadors to promote abilities in disability, advocating about disabilities, to create adequate awareness on disability, social equality, respect, and fair treatments towards persons with disability in our community, thus to eradicate the discrimination and stigmatization.
Your support or partnership to this great cause would not only illustrate your commitment to the development of individuals and society at large, but also show your respect for both the able and physical impaired and development of the Creative Arts industry in Ghana.
CONTEST REQUIREMENTS
1. Automatic qualification once a female citizen of Ghana.
2.Must be with or without disability.
3. Age limit 18 - 29 years.
4. Must have a national ID and have no criminal record.
5. Must be eloquent in written and spoken English and a local dialect, good with use of sign language if a deaf person.
6. Shrewd and well-informed with global issues of persons living with disabilities.
7. Strictly abide by the code of conduct as well as the rules and regulations of the contest to judiciously execute her responsibilities.
8. Have humility and desire to advance the life of persons with disability.
9. Must have completed Senior secondary education or be in a tertiary institution or have completed her tertiary education.
10. Preparedness to dedicate a minimum of One (1) full year to
fundraising and Charity works.
